You can upload as many documents as you want and question them one at a time or all together with the Ask All option. That turns a folder of scattered PDFs into one queryable pool. Beyond drag-and-drop uploads, Humata can import an entire website by URL and pull its pages into your workspace. So a documentation site, a public knowledge base or a set of published guidelines can all be queried the same way as a PDF. It's a practical way to fold web content into the same research flow. No copy-pasting pages into docs.

The Team plan adds shared folders, department and folder-level permissions, and role-based access, so a group can query the same document set without everyone seeing everything. Single sign-on through Okta, Google or SAML 2.0 keeps credentials in your identity provider. Admins can also spin up a teammate in seconds from the web app.

Files are encrypted at rest with 256-bit SHA encryption and in transit over TLS 1.3, served through signed Cloudflare and Google Cloud connections. Humata says it doesn't train AI models on your data, and it holds SOC-2 Type II compliance. The privacy-by-design framing is the company's own, but the compliance certificate is a verifiable claim worth checking.

The Team plan adds OCR, which reads scanned pages and images and turns the text inside them into something you can question. That closes a real gap. Without it, a photographed contract or an old scanned report stays a picture. With it, those documents join the same searchable pool as everything else.

The Humata API is the programmatic entry point for documents, conversations and answers, covering imports, PDF retrieval, conversation creation and asking questions. Its default rate limit is 120 requests per minute, and you can request a higher ceiling from support. That opens the door to wiring Humata's document Q&A into your own software.
