Getting Started

Agent-driven creation
Gamma's agent starts from a conversation, not a perfect prompt. As an AI presentation maker, it takes a sentence and asks a few clarifying questions about your goal and audience before showing you a plan. That plan covers the story, the style, and the overall look. Nothing gets built until you approve it, which means you catch a wrong direction before it costs you a full generation. A rough idea is enough to start.
Slides that resize themselves
Unlike fixed-size slides, Gamma's cards grow and shrink with the content. Drop in a long paragraph and the layout adapts instead of overflowing or shrinking the text to an unreadable size. NotebookLM-style scrollable pages work the same way. That's a small thing until you've spent an hour fighting alignment. This removes the fiddliest part of slide editing, since you spend time on words rather than nudging boxes around.
Three ways to start a project
Generate drafts from a topic, Paste reformats text you already wrote, and Import converts an existing PowerPoint, document, or URL. Which one you pick depends on how much you've already done. The Import path is the practical one for people with work elsewhere. You keep your content and get a new layout, rather than starting over.
AI image and animation generation
Gamma generates images inside your content from a text prompt, with basic, advanced, premium, and ultra image models depending on your plan. You can set a style to keep visuals consistent across a deck, and the Ultra plan adds AI animations. Image work draws credits. AI animations sit behind the Ultra tier. Plan accordingly if visuals are central to your work.
Agent as a full editor
After the first draft, Agent stays with you. Ask it to refine one slide, restyle the whole deck, pull in links and screenshots, or research a topic and add citations. A small request like "shorten this section" only touches that section, without regenerating everything. Not a rebuild every time. It also works in the mobile apps.
Publishing to sites and custom domains
Gamma isn't limited to decks. You can publish multi-page sites, and Pro allows up to 10 custom domains while Ultra raises that to 100. Password protection and headers and footers are available on paid tiers. Suddenly a presentation is a shareable web page, and you didn't open a separate site builder.
The Gamma Generate API
Gamma's API v1.0 became generally available in late 2025 and lets you create presentations, documents, webpages, and social posts from code. It suits automation through tools like Zapier, Make, or n8n, and backend integration for apps that generate decks at scale. Access needs a Pro, Ultra, Team, or Business account. The API key uses the X-API-KEY header.
