Uncluttr - Clean up your tabs

Uncluttr reads the tabs you have open and sorts them into themed groups on request, so a scattered set of pages ends up arranged by topic without you naming a single group. You can trigger it with one click instead of dragging each tab into place by hand. This is the headline feature, and it's the part that's gated behind the paid plan, so free users organize manually.

The extension moves your tabs from the horizontal bar into a sidebar that lists each one by title. Long page names stay readable, and you can scan the whole list without hunting through favicons. It stays visible next to your browsing rather than hiding behind a popup. Once you get used to it, the old tab strip feels cramped.

Inactive tabs get suspended so they stop using memory while staying in the sidebar. Detach goes further: it saves a tab as a zero-memory entry you can reopen later. Across a heavy session this is where the claimed memory savings come from. Both stay reversible.

Uncluttr saves your groups and workspaces locally, so they come back after a restart or a crash. You set up a workspace once and reopen it with the same tabs and structure intact. Nothing gets rebuilt from scratch after the browser closes.

A search box filters your open tabs by name, which matters once the list runs past a few dozen entries. Type a few letters and the sidebar narrows to matching tabs, so finding one specific page takes seconds instead of a slow scroll through everything you have open. Uncluttr also spots duplicate tabs. It flags the copies that pile up when you reopen the same page by accident, and clearing them takes a click.

Groups and tabs move by drag and drop, so manual sorting stays quick when you'd rather place things yourself. Drop a tab onto a group and it joins instantly, which is handy when the automatic grouping guesses wrong or when you want a specific group arranged a certain way. It works alongside the automatic grouping rather than replacing it. No menus needed.
